             Department of Oriental Languages conducted a seminar Day on 27/07/2018(Friday). Dr. LALIMOL S (HOD, Dept. of Malayalam, DB College, Thalayolaparambu; Chairperson Board of Studies Malayalam, M. G University) , Dr. A.S SUMESH(Editor and Board of Studies Member, Hindi, M.G University), Mrs. SREEKALA P.C (Research Scholar, M.G University) and Dr. SOUMYA M.B (Asst. Prof., Hindi, Bhavan’s College of Arts & Sciences, Kakkanad)  were  Chief Guests.

            Dr. LALIMOL. S  presented a paper on  രംഗകലകളിലെ നാടോടി വഴക്കങ്ങൾ – ഒരു സാംസ്കാരികാവലോകനം . Paper presented by Dr. A.S SUMESH was समकालीन हिंदी साहित्य: विविध सन्दर्भ  .Topics for Mrs. SREEKALA P.C and Dr.SOUMYA M.B  were മലയാളചെറുകഥയിലെ പെണ്ണെഴുത്ത് വഴികൾ and नासिरा शर्मा कि कहानियों में बच्चों का मानवाधिकार respectively.

100 packets of food taken to Government Ayurveda College, Puthiyakavu.


Visit to Daya Sadan, Special School. Spent the whole day there and celebrated Christmas with the students there. An amount of Rs. 13,000/- collected from students and teachers of the department of languages was handed over to them in the name of Literary Academia Alliance.


Food provided for patients of Ayurveda College, Puthiyakavu. Students and teachers brought packets of food from home and a total number of 126 packets were taken to the Ayurveda College by student representatives accompanied by a teacher.


A counselling session for the students of English was conducted. T. P. Rajesh, Programme Executive of A.I.R. interacted with the students and gave an enlightening talk.


First anniversary of Literary Academia Alliance celebrated. Inauguration by Chief Guest Prof. M. N. Lekshmanan, Founder Principal of S.S. College. He was honoured with a Ponnada and a Memento was presented to him. Dr. Suma O M, former professor of Malayalam, S.S. College took class for the students. A memento was also given in the name of Literary Academia Alliance.


Reading week observed. Reading, writing and elocution competitions in all three languages – Malayalam, Hindi, English – were held. Students from the different departments took part in it. On the final day, Dr. T N Viswambaran, retired professor of Hindi, S.H. Thevara and M.P. Venu, Freelance journalist graced the function.


Environmental day celebrated. Literary Bower cleaned by students .Vice Principal Prof. K.S. Ullas inaugurated the function by planting a sapling. Mrs. Sheeja P.V, H.O.D (Indian Languages), teachers and students also planted saplings.


A mega counselling session on Drug Addiction by the Kerala Excise Commissioner, Rishiraj Singh for the students of our college, SN Law College and Higher Secondary School was planned and arranged for the 19th of March by the English Association. Two days before the date, the visit was called off as he had to attend an emergency meeting.


Resource person Dr.Jyothimol, Professor of English, Baselious College, Kottayam, took class on project presentation.


Inauguration of Haritha Keralam Project by Dr.Renu Raj, Sub collector, Ernakulam. Under the banner of Haritha Keralam project, a strip of land lying on the southern side of the college building was converted into a cultivation area and two waste compost pits were installed there. It was named Green Bower. The dried up pond in front of the college was cleaned up and filled with water. Sub collector Renu Raj inaugurated the function by planting a sapling and dropping varieties of fishes into the pond. This was followed by a formal program in the auditorium.


Visit to Poornathrayeesa Old Age Home, Tripunithura to celebrate Christmas with the residents there. Spent the whole day with them. Had lunch with them and entertained them with programmes. An amount of Rs. 16,000/- collected from students and teachers of the department of languages was handed over to the old age home in the name of Literary Academia Alliance.

Cultural activities conducted by the students.   

The Department of English, started in 2014 became a full-fledged department with three batches of students (I, II & III yrs) in June 2016. In September 2016 an association was formed by the department (including the faculty of second languages -Hindi & Malayalam) named Literary Academia Alliance. All further activities that the students of B.A (English) took up were conducted under the banner of Literary Academia Alliance
